Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi touts the Global Innovation Index in his speech on the occasion of Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe’s visit to India. The two leaders met to discuss a wide range of issues pertaining to Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries. In the latest rankings of economies released by Global Innovation Index (GII) 2017, India moved up six places from its position last year to 60th place this year. Japan on the other hand moved up two spots to 12th position this year. Both these economies have shown great commitment to innovation and growth over the years. Strengthening their bilateral relations will reinforce their positions as leading innovators and will create a conducive environment for innovation in other countries in the region.
