Thursday, September 4, 2014

Professor Bhushan Patwardhan, Professor & Director at the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences University of Pune, India, recently wrote an article in the Financial Express about India's need to bridge its innovation gap and the need for policy makers to truly understand what is hindering innovation in the economy.

"In the recently released Global Innovation Index, India slipped 10 ranks to the 76th place in 2014 from 2013. It is also the only country among the BRICS nations to have witnessed a decline in the rankings. India is currently at the crossroads of immense opportunity that necessitates urgent action. It needs to speak the language of innovation to address the existing ‘innovation gap’ and help build the bridges that are needed between researchers and implementers."
