The Global Innovation Economy and American Competitiveness

1101 K Street, NW, 610 A
Washington, DC 20005

The growth over the last two decades of a globally integrated, innovation-based economy has transformed international trade, R&D and industrial development, while impacting job growth and competitiveness. As numerous governments now implement comprehensive innovation strategies designed to meet the challenges of this new paradigm, the United States’ long standing position as a global innovation leader is being challenged like never before.

To further assess global efforts to develop vibrant innovation ecosystems and promote the reforms the United States needs to make to keep pace, ITIF will host the American release of the Global Innovation Index 2014, an annual ranking of 143 economies, published by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The ranking uses 81 indicators to gauge both innovation capacity and competitiveness, with a particular emphasis on assessing how nations are growing their innovation ecosystems.

The event is free, open to the public and complies with ethics rules. A lunch will be served and a live webcast will be available on the ITIF home page.
